OpenNY Summit, Dec 11 & 12

The Open Planning Project and the OpenNY Forum invite you to The OpenNY Summit, a two day event (Dec 11th & 12th) to improve civic engagement and advance open governance through the development of participatory processes and technology.

New York boasts a diverse and creative population with national and global influence. It is home to many efforts to coordinate solutions and develop technology for a more transparent governance processes and participatory civic life in New York city and state. The OpenNY Summit is a venue to bring these efforts together to explore and address challenges and opportunities presented to the delivery of public services and operation of government offices.

This summit is being coordinated simultaneously with other events throughout the country by The Sunlight Foundation, a national leader in applying cutting edge technology to make government transparent and accountable.

All NY metro area Geeks and GovGeeks are invited for two bug free days dedicated to building New York’s future.

Starting Friday, Dec 11, at 10 AM we will Co-work/“Jelly” and at 4 PM host a moderated discussion on transparency issues and solutions. We’ll end the night with some snappy presentations and a not to be missed Happy Hour/OpenGov celebration.

To further unpack the future, on Saturday, Dec 12, we will host the Summit’s unconference answering questions like:

  • Do you have a problem that a GovGeek can help solve?- Got a project and looking for collaborators?
  • Toiling away in your Agency and need a breather with like minded geeks?- Wanna give a short talk on your vision for an Open NY?
  • Want to help run a workshop?
  • Eager to learn more?

If so, join us on Friday and Saturday – December 11th and 12th – at The Open Planning Project!
